According to the different characteristics of various types of instrumentation, such as function, detection and control object, structure, principle and so on can be subdivided into several small class or sub class. Such as industrial automation instrument according to the functions can be divided into detection instrument, circuit display instrument, regulating instrument and actuator; wherein the detection instrument according to the measured physical quantity is divided into temperature measuring instrument, a pressure measuring instrument, flow meter, level measuring instrument and mechanical quantity measuring instrument; temperature measuring instruments according to measuring mode it is classified as contact type temperature measurement instrument and non-contact temperature measuring instrument; contact type temperature measurement instrument can be divided into thermal type, expanding type, resistance type etc..
